What does an interior designer do?
An interior designer helps transform your home by balancing aesthetics, functionality and practicality. They’ll work closely with you in the conceptual phase, taking the time to understand your wants and visions. Then, they’ll plan your dream space before getting started on bringing it to life.
How involved will I be when working with you?
Your level of involvement depends on you! We can tailor our approach to your preference, whether you want to be a hands-on collaborator, you want us to take the reins, or you want to sit somewhere in the middle.
We create timeless interiors that balance beauty, function and a touch of everyday luxury. Based in the South West, we help clients across the capital, creating spaces that feel just as good as they look. All of our spaces are thoughtfully designed to stand the test of time, we believe you should spend once and spend well.
From start to finish, we can work closely with architects, builders and renovations teams to ensure we can bring your vision to life, resulting in a perfect finish.
What makes Susan Chesney's interior designers the right choice for a Knightsbridge property?
Knightsbridge is one of London's most distinguished postcodes, home to some of the capital's most architecturally significant residences. Susan Chesney Interiors understands that homes in this area demand a level of refinement that goes beyond the ordinary. Our team brings a globally informed design perspective - shaped by years working across Tokyo, San Francisco, and London - to deliver interiors that honour the character of Knightsbridge properties while reflecting the personalities of the people who live in them. Every project is approached with meticulous attention to detail, transparent budgeting, and a commitment to timeless design that genuinely stands the test of time.
Do your Knightsbridge interior designers handle full-property transformations, or just individual rooms?
Both. We offer flexible, end-to-end interior design services - whether you're looking for a complete turnkey transformation of your Knightsbridge home or want to refresh a single space that isn't quite working for you. Our room-to-room service is particularly popular with clients who prefer to invest in one area at a time, while our full-home projects allow us to create cohesive, beautifully layered interiors throughout. Whatever the scope, the same level of care, craft, and considered design thinking applies.
How does Susan Chesney Interiors approach the design process for a Knightsbridge home?
We begin with a detailed consultation to understand how you live, what you love, and what you want your home to feel like day to day. From there, we develop a considered design concept - balancing aesthetics, functionality, and the specific spatial characteristics of your Knightsbridge property. We work closely with architects, builders, and specialist contractors throughout the project, managing every detail so the process feels seamless. Our philosophy is simple: spend once and spend well. That means we never cut corners, and we never rush the process.
Are Susan Chesney's interior designers experienced working within period properties in Knightsbridge?
Absolutely. Knightsbridge is rich with Victorian and Edwardian architecture, lateral conversions, and listed properties that require a particularly sensitive design touch. Our team has experience navigating the unique constraints and opportunities that period buildings present - from working around original cornicing and ceiling heights to selecting materials and finishes that complement historical architecture while introducing a quietly modern sensibility. We treat every home as a unique brief, not a template to be replicated.
What is the typical timeline for an interior design project in Knightsbridge?
Timelines vary depending on the scope of the project, but we always set realistic expectations upfront. A single-room redesign might take six to twelve weeks from initial consultation to completion, while a full-property project in Knightsbridge - particularly where renovation work is involved - may take six months or longer. What we can promise is consistent communication and active presence on site throughout. You'll never be left wondering where things stand.
